Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Madhya-lila, Chapter 4, “Sri Madhavendra Puri’s Devotional Service”:
TEXT 1 yasmai datum corayan ksira-bhandam gopinathah ksira-corabhidho ’bhut sri-gopalah pradurasid vasah san yat-premna tam madhavendram nato ’smi ✔️I offer my respectful obeisances unto Madhavendra Puri, who was given a pot of sweet rice stolen by Sri Gopinatha, celebrated thereafter as ksira-cora. *Being pleased by Madhavendra Puri’s love, Sri Gopala, the Deity at Govardhana, appeared to the public vision.* 👉*Srila Madhavendra Puri was the spiritual master of Advaita Acarya and Isvara Puri, Lord Caitanya’s spiritual master.* Madhavendra Puri took initiation from Sri Laksmipati Tirtha, in the Madhva Sampradaya, the disciplic line from the great spiritual teacher Madhvacarya. 👉 Madhavendra Puri toured India on pilgrimage for many years. He then resided mostly in Vrndavana, where *he discovered the Krsna Deity named Gopala, now worshiped in Nathadwar, Rajasthan, as Srinathaji.* 👉 Madhavendra Puri has special love and affection for the Divine Couple Sri Sri Radha and Krsna. His devotion is so high. He is the root of Vraja-rasa (the mellow of conjugal love for Krsna), for he brought such love to this world. Sri Isvara Puri received that gopi mood from him and then gave it to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Such wealth was then bestowed upon Sri Svarupa Damodara, Sri Raya Ramananda, and the Six Gosvamis, and it is thus coming down in disciplic succession. 👉 “Madhavendra Puri’s body was completely full of divine love; so were his followers. He displayed uncommon love of God. Seeing a dark blue rain cloud, he would fall down unconscious. Day and night he was intoxicated from drinking the ambrosia of Krishna prema.” (Vrndavana Dasa Thakura) 👉Madhavendra Puri introduced the conception of madhuryabhava (conjugal love) in the Madhvacarya sampradaya. *Madhavendra Puri sowed the seed of prema bhakti.* And Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu became the towering tree dropping honey sweet fruits of prema upon everyone. He also revealed viraha bhava, the mood of love relished in separation from God. His branch of the Madhva sect distinguished itself by this ecstatic love of God. It is known as the Madhva-Gaudiya sampradaya. ➖Madhavendra Puri’s samadhi is in Remuna, Orissa just a walk down the road from the temple of Ksira-cora Gopinatha. 🙏*Srila MADHAVENDRA Puri paad ki jai!!*
